"Kate is authentic. She gets it. She hears you, and then helps you find your answers." - Ty S.
Kathryn Crous has spent her entire life and career concerned with healing and healthcare. Growing up in a small town in Canada, Kathryn was exposed to nutrition, wellness, the power of nature, a strong faith, and the importance of family and community bonds from a very early age. Kathryn’s mother was revolutionary in discovering the power of herbal remedies, vitamins, minerals and other nutritional supplements. Much of what the health community is learning now, Kathryn experienced as part of her knowledge base from her earliest memories.
As a registered nurse, her early career was focused on traditional Western medicine. Kathryn’s nursing school education and her years at the bedside built her knowledge base of health, illness, and mental well-being. Kathryn was blessed to have comforted and cared for patients for over 20 years. She witnessed the joys of new life and healing in a hospital setting. However, Kathryn also witnessed people taking their last breaths, families devastated by the loss of their loved ones, and the personal grief that came with it. Never more pronounced was this pain than when a 2-month-old twin died in the operating room due to an equipment malfunction. Running past the parents of the infant to retrieve emergency medications in a futile attempt to save the child’s life left an indelible mark on her heart that remains to this day.
It was during this tenure that she began her ministry to her constituents in the healthcare environment and made her transition from the clinical world to the executive world. Kathryn has a wealth of knowledge concerning the industry and the changes it has undergone over the past 30 years. The move from illness care to healthcare and wellness has accelerated with a new knowledge base now at everyone’s fingertips: the Internet. This timely revolution has included a focus on all aspects of wellness, including nutrition and sleep hygiene as well as physical, mental, spiritual, and social well-being. This new industry runs parallel to traditional medicine and embraces alternative healing therapies, and is now her focus and area of expertise.
As a healthcare executive, Kathryn experienced the damaging effects of excessive time at work, the pressures facing executives in corporate America, and the problematic cultural acceptance of working too many hours while sacrificing one's health for work. When the tolls of travel, long hours, poor nutritional options and poor sleep patterns began to impact her own wellness, Kathryn developed a vision for creating a community that is not willing to mortgage their wellness to the current overworked American culture.
Today, she focuses on finding ways to help others improve their quality of life in a work-obsessed society. This passion is what created the Benessere Journey vision that each person’s life is valuable and it is important to experience each moment of life to the fullest while balancing both work and wellness. Kathryn is most proud of being a mother to two sons who have given her great strength. She is also a grandmother to a beautiful granddaughter.
